In essence, protein A1 and protein A2 is just one amino acid apart, with protein A1 containing histidine, and A2 proline. This difference is what makes protein A1 ‘unfriendly’ towards the human body. People believe there is a link between the symptoms of indigestion and intolerance towards lactose and ß (beta) casein and protein A1. Therefore, many of those who believe themselves to be lactose-intolerant are simply allergic to protein A1 in milk.*
